May 14, 2026 from 10am-2pm - All Things Pastel - Soft & Oil Combo Class
Are you intrigued to try your hand at pastel painting?
In this workshop, we will use both types of pastel: the soft, dry type and the vibrant oil type. They have very different characteristics and their handling is very different, although they do share some fundamental similarities, namely, rich, intense pigmentation.
We will work from one subject matter (agave image or cactus image) and at first work with the soft pastels, exploring layering and blending techniques. Then we will move to the oil pastels, rendering the same image, and explore ways of blending, including diluting and scraping back using palette knives.
This is a busy workshop and gives you the chance to explore both mediums by direct comparison of the same subject matter.
