12-4pm Beginner Acrylics with Shoray Wolfe

About this event

February 24, 2026 from 12pm-4pm - The "Beginner Acrylic Class"

Do you ever dream of becoming an artist but keep putting it off until you have ‘more time’?

To many, the very thought of the blank white canvas can cause a state of anxiety. You can quickly find yourself as the ‘art admirer’ rather than the ‘art creator’. And you begin to wonder, what if, you start painting and your paintings look terrible.

But not to worry. This "beginner acrylic class" is an art course designed for individuals with no prior painting experience, focusing on the fundamental techniques of using acrylic paint, including color mixing, brush handling, composition basics, and applying paint to canvas, allowing students to create their first artwork while learning the essential skills needed to paint with acrylics.

In this course, you will find that acrylic painting is a simple, flexible and effective way to learn how to paint successfully. Acrylic paints can produce vibrant colors, dry quickly and can be diluted and cleaned with water, making them easy to use.

No experience required.

Students can expect to:

  1. Learn to see and visualize
  2. Learn to paint background, middle ground and foreground
  3. Learn placement – where to start, where to place subjects
  4. Color tone
  5. Apply and manipulate acrylic paint – water and spray bottle

By the end of class, students will:

  • Paint the background
  • Paint the midground
  • Paint the foreground with trees
  • Paint lake with sun’s reflection
  • Paint snow covering ground and tree branches
  • Understand proper brush cleaning and disposing of the dirty water

Supply List:

ALL SUPPLIES - canvas, brushes and paint - will be supplied for use in class! Students will keep the canvas with their beautiful paintings.

Additional items to bring:

1.        Apron to protect your cloths as acrylic paint does not come out of fabric.

2.        Roll of paper towels – you will need this to wipe your hands or brush.

3.        Two empty jam jars or plastic bowls (any good size) to rinse your brush.

4.        Notebook & pencil – if you like to take notes.

5.        Your happy and positive attitude.
